In 1987 I was in the army, and stationed in Seedorf, Germany. I went there on the Z750 twice, and twice it came back to the Netherlands on a trailer! The first time was in april, I had crashed into the back of a car. While I was in a German hospital the bike had been brought back to NL on a trailer. The second time was, I think, in August. On the way home the chain broke while I was in the third lane on a German Autobahn. I managed to get on the refuge lane and checked the damage. The chain had damaged the gearbox casing and cut away a piece of the stick that operates the clutch. I couldn't continue. A fellow Dutch soldier brought me home. After that I borrowed a trailer and went back to Germany to collect the bike (thanks Richard, Bert).
In the fall of 1988 the clutchplates were pretty much worn. I put the bike in a shed for the winter, thinking about changing the clutch the next spring. That never happened, I bought a new bike in 1989. The Z750 has been in the shed until February 2001. I gave the bike away to someone who might be able to restore the bike.
